Extra Curricular Education
Casa de Sara works with at-risk children through afterschool and summer programs. Building Boys is a program to mentor and teach young boys who are at-risk or living in poverty the building trade, coupled with the skills necessary to build a strong life. This program brings successful and compassionate male role models into the program to serve as mentors on the projects as well as in life skills. Through hands on projects that begin at the planning stage and go through building completion, to discussion and guidance on real-life issues, boys connect with mentors that help guide them to realize a stronger future.
Casa de Sara partners with donors to provide scholarships to area high schools for higher education to a deserving student in need of financial assistance. The winner has the spring semester to complete service hours with Casa de Sara, and is awarded the scholarship at the end of the year, just before graduation. Interested in donating to a scholarship fund or creating your own? Contact us at 865-690-3323 or at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the process started!
Experience has taught us that real change comes from working with the entire family, not just the children in our programs. We currently have a yearly project in which we provide Christmas to children in need in East Knoxville. We work with the families to plan a party that includes dinner, gifts, and Santa for children who otherwise would not have access to these things. We are in the process of expanding our family outreach programs, so check back soon for updates.
